I'm obsessed with knowing how other people live their lives when it comes to food. What tricks or hacks do they do? How do they eat every day, move their body and get a dose of energy?
That's why I'm diving in to discover and share the different daily routines and eating habits of a range of people in the spotlight (and people I admire!).
The first is #fitspo Queen, Lorna Jane Clarkson. Lorna launched her famous lifestyle brand, Lorna Jane, in 1990, and has since grown her business into a global empire. Her posts about food and life are popular on Instagram, and her naturally inspiring life makes her a poster gal for all things wellness.
I have a big glass of water with lemon juice (and sometimes a dash of cayenne pepper) to hydrate and kick start my metabolism. I’m a huge advocate of drinking water first thing as it really does help you get your 2 Litres in for the day, especially if you can get the first 600ml done before you even step out the door!
Next, I whip up a quick smoothie to fuel my workout. I have a few ‘go-to’ smoothies but at the moment I’m loving the Super Green Smoothie from my book EAT GOOD FOOD and I’m adding a little collagen powder for my skin, hair and gut health.
After my workout, I shower and head into the office with my lunch and a stash of homemade snacks. By planning and prepping ahead of time it not only keeps me on track with my eating but also makes it one less thing I have to think about during the day!
I have a long black coffee, and then I have my second breakfast which is usually a homemade frittata or muffin, oats or some avo on toast (always a classic!).
Lunch is a big salad with protein (salmon is one of my favourites) or leftovers from the night before.
A handful of nuts, a piece of fresh fruit, veggie sticks and hummus or a couple of homemade bliss balls. I love kombucha, so a ginger kombucha around 4pm is a part of my afternoon routine too.
On the weekends I make bigger, more elaborate meals but during the week it’s always something quick to prepare. The same as lunch, big, nourishing salads or veggies cooked up in coconut oil with chicken, turkey or salmon are our usual go-to’s.
I have a real sweet tooth, so dessert is a non-negotiable for me and I have it every night. A couple of squares of dark chocolate, yogurt with berries or granola, the apple crumble sundaes from Eat Good Food or some homemade slices that I made over the weekend do the trick.
